| Adventurers | Sunday School During this century numerous church growth experts and Christian Educators have made this recurring statement, "As the Sunday School goes so goes the Church." First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro is a congregation with a strong and effectiveeducational program. The Sunday School of First United Methodist is a vibrant, alive andgrowing ministry thanks to countless teachers, age-level superintendents, and the ministryarea on Christian Education. Our Sunday School offers quality educational opportunities week after week to an ever- Many educational challenges await us as we enter the new millennium. Our ministry focus will continue to be holistic in meeting the faith formation needs of all ages. We strive to be creative in our methodology, all the while remaining faithful to the timeless message of God's reconciling story of forgiveness, salvation, and hope. You are cordially invited to come join us each Sunday morning for fellowship, study, and faith formation in a class designed especially to meet your spiritual needs. See links to the right. Class Leader: Noland Noffsinger A discussion class, variety of teachers and topics dealing with family relationships and personal growth. Led by Mike & RaeAnne Pardue A group study that focuses on fellowship, study, prayer, and praise. Come and be with us and Class Leader: Glenn Cummings Founded November 3, 2002 after a growth and a need for an additional Sunday School class for Adults. The class was initially started with a membership of about 6 people, and the class quickly grew, after a church decision was made to eliminate the 9:45 worship service when the
congregation moved into the current church building on Easter Sunday in 2003. The class currently has 39 members. A lecture/discussion class centered around Bible study and prayers as applied tocurrent issues and world events.
Teachers : John & Maridel Williams and Josh & Aimie Markham. The class is Bible-study centered that will focus on building and strengthening personal relationships with Christ and with each other. There is required home study and devotion time as well as group participation to establish a strong sense of kinship and accountability among class members. This class is for couples of all ages.
The Fellowship Sunday School Class meets in Room 218 and is led by Robert and Joan Collier. The class has a variety of ages and includes singles, young adults with chilren, and older adults with grandchildren. The class begins with singing and moves to a lecture style of teaching. It concludes with prayer. The teaching materials vary from studying books of the Bible, topics of |faith,and books, always pointing to Jesus and His work of grace in our lives. Class involvement through discussion and testimonies is an important part of this class. Robert and Joan Collier have been members of FUMC since 1990. They have been Methodists all their lives, and each of them has a brother who is a Methodist minister. They have one son,Ben, who lives in Lexington, KY.
BACK TO TOP Traveling the road together, we discuss what it means to be a Christian and a United Methodist through an examination of scripture and media resources. Examining how we can respond to the gospel locally and globally, our class features lively discussion, friendly debate and open conversation. We also have a variety of regular service and social opportunities outside of the traditional Sunday School hour. Young Adult Couples and Singles (25-35) A lecture/discussion class addressing various topics as they relate to our Christian faith. Leaders: Jennifer and Tray Suggs A Bible study format with informal discussions relating Biblical truths to life experiences. Mixed Ages & Young Singles Discussion class about the Bible relating to various relevant topics. Average Age 25-40 Year Old Singles and Couples. If you are a young adult interested in exploring matters of faith and have fun at the same time, then this is the class for you. NEW LIFE NEWS! The Regeneration Sunday School class was formed based on the example set before us in The class gets it's name from two other scriptures. The class is based on John 3:3 and Revelation 21:5. In John 3 Jesus tells Nicodemus that unless you are born again, you will not see the kingdom of heaven. In Revelation 21, Jesus proclaims the He is making all things new. We pray that we will be Regenerated people - born again in to Spiritual birth - new creations in Christ. BACK TO TOP A discussion class with a variety of teachers. Topics range from Bible studies to topics on contemporary Christian issues affecting society, modern life, and personal growth. Mixed-age group. A lecture class using Adult Bible Study Series. |
